Event code SCH 19/040
Event description

This half-day event will bring together year 6 teachers across Ealing schools. They have been designed to allow teachers, towards the end of the school year, to compare their judgements of attainment in writing, which is in line with the expectations of the assessment frameworks.

Please bring you with you examples of writing and science so that you can moderate

The evidence for writing might include:

  • Children’s exercise books and other examples of written work in a variety of forms and for a range of purposes and audiences, taken from the whole of the school year. This should include ‘rough’ work as well as ‘finished’ examples

  • Written work from other subjects as well as English, including cross-curricular projects

  • Examples of children’s independent must include writing about their own and others’ experiences (real and fictional)

  • Other evidence which you consider relevant

The evidence for science might include:

  • Day-to-day work in the classroom and may include work from different curriculum subjects - pupils’ recordings of, and responses to, their practical science work

  • Teachers’ records or notes about a pupil’s practical science work

  • Answers to questions in science quizzes

  • Summative tasks used by schools

Year 7 teachers are also invited to attend.

Participants will have the chance to present their evidence, hear from other teachers, discuss their findings and consider implications for planning and pedagogy. The event will model an approach that could be replicated within participants’ schools and/or in local clusters.
