BASIC FINANCE – WHAT GOVERNORS NEED TO KNOW? (ONLINE TRAINING)

Event description This session is suitable for all governors but particularly for those new to role or new to finance /resource committee/lead duties

Tuesday 19th January (part one) and Thursday 21st January 2021 (part 2) both at 6-7.15pm

The session with cover the following ares:

Quick history of school financing
Role of the Governor
Operational v strategic
How finance is delivered to schools
Possible yearly “timetable” of tasks – division of labour
What are you budgeting for – use of balances, liabilities
Statutory obligations, budget content
What to expect from school

Suitable for all governors but especially the finance governor or those on resources /finance committees

This session will be delivered by Rory McCormack. Rory began teaching in the late 1970’s and taught in primary schools up until his retirement in July 2017. For over 28 years of that time he was headteacher of two schools, firstly in Reading and then for over 20 years at St Lawrence’s Catholic Primary School in Feltham.

Since his retirement from headship, he has been working as an educational consultant and has led governor training both for Local Authorities and for individual schools.

  • Please do not share the online training link with others. Participants must register on www.ealingcpd.org.uk for courses. Attendees who have not registered in advance, may not be admitted by the trainer. 

  • By joining this session you understand that your name, school and e mail will be shared with the trainer so they can allow you access to the online session 

  • Please make sure you can access the platform prior to the session i.e. Zoom 

  • Please join the session 5 minutes before the starting time. When you join the session, you will be placed in a waiting room until the trainer opens the meeting. The session will commence promptly.

  • If you are more than 5 minutes late to the session, it is at the trainers discretion whether they will admit you 

  • We understand at times participants may lose connection. Whilst the trainer will be mindful of this it may not be possible for you to re-join the meeting once it has started or there may be a delay.
