| Event description | The board’s third core function is to oversee financial performance and make sure public money is well spent. It should do this by ensuring it has at least one individual or a committee with specific, relevant skills and experience of financial matters. However, everyone on the governing board should have a basic understanding of the financial cycle and the legal requirements of the school on accountability and spend.” (Governance Handbook, October 2020, DfE) This session is a follow up to the basic finance session (January 2023) but primarily aimed at governors responsible for finance / or who sit on a relevant committee linked to managing the budget effectively. The training will be undertaken by Ealing’s Russel Dyer, Stephen Bell and Justin Whitsitt (details of trainer TBC) |
