This DfE guidance is in place from September 2022 and it is anticipated it will become statutory from September 2023

In line with the DfE Working Together to improve school attendance guidance, this training will outline what all schools governing boards including Academy trust will be required to do and will cover the following areas of responsibility:

  • Taking an active role in attendance improvement, support their school(s) to prioritise attendance, and work together with leaders to set whole school cultures.

  • Ensure school leaders fulfil expectations and statutory duties.

  • Ensure school staff receive training on attendance.

  • Regularly review attendance data and help school leaders focus support on the pupils who need it.

  • What should be in your school’s attendance policy

  • Sharing best practice

This face-to-face training will be held at Ealing Education Centre by Ealing’s lead officer for attendance, Lucinda Poole.
