EXCLUSIONS TRAINING FOR GOVERNORS AND CLERKS

Event description This 2.5 hour training course covers the role of  the governors and the clerk  in the exclusion process in detail. It is appropriate for governors and clerks who are completely new to exclusions and also those who have had some experience in this area but who need to update and refresh their knowledge. The session covers:

·       National guidance on exclusions

·       The exclusion process from start to finish

·       The duty on governors to review exclusions in different circumstances

·       The role of the clerk before, during and after an exclusion hearing

·       Tips for clerks on best practice

·       How clerks can best support and advise governors through the exclusion procedure

·       What clerks should do in the event of a number of unusual "what if..." scenarios

·       Where clerks may seek additional support and guidance for their role.
